Margie's castaway this week is Milli Taylor.
Milli runs a hugely successful catering company called Milli’s Catering and she just makes the most dribble inducing food – that is to say it’s delicious and she’s ridiculously talented. From large weddings and cocktail parties to hosting small supperclubs in her home, she’s happiest when bringing people together through good food. Milli has cooked for numerous celebrities, from politicians to pop-stars, and has created show stopping cakes that have appeared in Hello and Grazia magazines.
Simply put - Milli knows good food, and her approach to food and cooking is full of passion and flavour. I know Milli could put anything she cooked down infront of me and it would just be delicious and I would want seconds, and most likely thirds.
Milli gave me two slices of the most insanely perfect almond and greengage tart. I think she thought I would give the second slice to my boyfriend…I didn’t. What's worse is that I ate them in the car so that I wouldn't have to share. Let's hope he doesn't read my blog...
I just love doing this podcast – there are so many amazing people out there like Milli – just killing it – in whatever field they are in and I am just loving getting to meet them and ask them all these questions. I’m very excited for Mill’s new book to come out and I will continue to work hard so that I could maybe persuade her to be my very own private chef.
I loved reminiscing about Ready Steady Cook, a total blast from the past! And I loved that Milli as a child saw one of the chefs on the show frying capers and immediately had to experiment. If you haven't fried a caper, incidentally, do give it a go; fry in a little butter and serve on top of a simple bit of white fish...utterly delicious. love sound of her quick and simple soba noodles which is a great go-to dish. She has also got my mouth watering for deep fried Southern chicken. We now know the secret to the perfect friend chicken is all about the buttermilk.
Final Desert Island Dish: Big plate of Spanish Jamon and a glass of beer
