Pigs in blankets – I buy them pre-made, rather than making them myself. But you can make them yourself if you’d rather.
Runny honey – great for getting a nice, sweet, sticky glaze. However, in a pinch you can always sub in maple syrup, but honey does work better!
Substitutions and Variations:
Add extra flavours – a splash of Worcestershire sauce will add an extra savoury depth. A dollop of wholegrain mustard will give them honey mustard flavour.
Build your own – have more control over the flavours of your cocktail sausages or if you want to use smoked vs. unsmoked streaky bacon by building your own. Allow 1/2 a rasher of bacon per cocktail sausage, and just wrap tightly.
Here’s how to make glazed bacon sausages (pigs in blankets):

Frequently Asked Questions
Nothing beats a nice fresh cocktail sausage, but if you want to make a big platter of these for a party they’ll happily keep warm for up to half an hour ahead in a 65C oven.
Of course! I like these mini ones for canapés, but you don’t need to change anything to sub out every two pigs in blankets for a bacon wrapped sausage if you want something more substantial for the table.
