Margie’s castaway this week is Esther Walker.
Esther Walker or Esther Coren, depending on how you know her, is a journalist who writes for The Times, Grazia, The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mail and countless others.
She is incidentally married to the Times restaurant critic Giles Coren and they have two children. She has created not one but two amazing blogs and she's written two books. It's fair to say she has somewhat of a cult following.
Esther is hilarious, honest and we discuss everything from the evolution of blogging, what it’s really like to cook for a restaurant critic and the realities of being a trail blazer.
Esther’s Desert Island Dishes are delicious and her tips and tricks might even inspire you to throw a dinner party.
Her dish involving sausages, cabbage and butter sounds awesome - you know you're onto a winning dish when butter is the third ingredient. Her go to dinner party dish sounds delicious: aromatic pork belly hot pot. I absolutely love the sound of that - it sounds mouth wateringly delicious. She has also reminded me how much I love Cavolo Nero and I definitely need to cook with that more often, it may be a cabbage but it is far from humble, especially when fried up with pancetta. Yum.
Desert Island Dish: Egg roll, then a pizza. These would be followed by Banana fritters from Singapore Garden near Swiss London with ice cream and honey. All topped off with a Pisco Sour.
